About myself and my Counselling Practice
My name is Linda Tyrrell. I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling awarded by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body. I have been awarded Accreditation status by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I have been working in counselling and psychotherapy for 18 years and have acquired an extensive amount of client experience throughout that time by working in different professional settings and within my own private practice. I have a Post-Graduate Certificate in Supervision and regularly work as a supervisor with both trainee and qualified counsellors. I worked for over 10 years as a counselling tutor, running courses from Introduction right through to Diploma level. Although I am no longer teaching, I am still involved in moderating student work, plus providing mentoring and supervision to the current tutors running the counselling courses in this area.
How I Can Help
I work primarily on an individual basis with clients, but also work with couples where this is appropriate. I am an Integrative counsellor/psychotherapist with a strong person centred and humanistic foundation to my practice, whilst bringing in different therapeutic models and creative techniques as appropriate, and according to a client's needs.
I believe the relationship between a client and counsellor to be paramount in terms of the effectiveness of therapy, and regard the core conditions of empathy, acceptance, and genuineness to be a vital ingredient in my work. I provide a very safe, caring, supportive, and respectful environment for clients to explore issues that are troubling them and affecting their lives, and have a profound belief that counselling can enable clients to understand themselves and their difficulties and make sense of what is happening for them. With that understanding and insight comes change and an ability to move forward towards personal fulfilment, and acceptance.
I have considerable experience in the following:
- Bereavement and issues of unresolved loss
- History of abuse - emotional, physical, and sexual
- Stress and anxiety
- Domestic violence
- Couples work
- Low self-esteem and self-confidence
- Personal development
- Relationship difficulties
- Inner child work
